Structural Steel

Big capability, little floorspace.

Structural shops that don’t have the space for a full beam line or burn table, but need the ability to cut copes, base plates, gussets, or stiffeners, rely on the Mach 1.

Coping beams

Skip the material handling.

It’s far easier to move the Mach 1 to your material than to rotate a beam or haul plate across the shop. The Mach 1 has coping profiles pre-loaded so you can cut the flanges and web with oxy-fuel or plasma.

Weld prep

Beveling made easy.

When fitted with the Sabre, the Mach 1 can make perfect weld-prep bevels however they’re specified on drawings. Landings, double bevels, and full penetrations up to 52.5 degrees can all be programmed by a welder in one setup.

Ease of use

Less classroom, more cutting.

Mach 1 operators are almost always welders or fabricators that make production cuts the same day they receive the machine. If you can use a smartphone and a hand torch, you can use the Mach 1.

Field modifications

The change order machine.

When steel needs a new penetration, a bolt pattern, or a cope that was missed, the alternative to the Mach 1 is a hand torch and a grinder. Magnetic mounting puts a programmed, repeatable cut on steel that is already up, no crane time, no send-back.

FAQ

Common questions.

Is it worth it if we already have a CNC table in the shop?

The Mach 1 is not a replacement for a full sized burn table running 24/7. For large shops, it’s a supplement that allows you to cut quick jobs without interrupting production. For small to medium shops, it’s a workhorse that can cut beams, maximize value from drops, perform bevels, and pump out small-medium sized jobs. Its 68-inch reach also covers more plate than a 4×4 table.

How does it hold onto a beam?

The electromagnetic base clamps the machine to ferrous steel in any orientation. Adding a Talon base provides worry free mounting vertically or inverted even when power is lost.

What does a setup look like on site?

One operator, one case, a power source, and your plasma unit or fuel gas. The machine mounts, the pre-programmed tablet drives the cut, and you’re cutting in minutes, no rigging steel to the machine.
