Shipbuilding & Marine

Automation that climbs aboard.

In shipyards, change orders are frequent, mobility is low, and precision is not optional. The Mach 1 travels with ship fitters through the tightest spaces and mounts directly to the steel that needs to be cut.

Shipbuilding & Marine

Portability

One-hand carry.

The Mach 1 packs into a rolling hard case that can be easily transported wherever it’s needed in the yard or onboard. No cranes, rigging, or complicated logistics.

One-hand carry

Any-position mounting

Flat, vertical, or overhead.

The Mach 1 can be fitted with the Talon bases to mount directly to curved hulls, bulkheads, the deck, or just about anywhere you need to make a cut. Penetrations, inserts, and access cuts don’t get any easier.

Flat, vertical, or overhead

Weld prep

Bevels without the grinder.

When fitted with the Sabre, the Mach 1 can make perfect weld-prep bevels however they’re specified on drawings. Landings, double bevels, and full penetrations up to 52.5 degrees can all be programmed by a welder in one setup.

On-demand parts

Skip the lead times.

Plate isn’t hard to come by in the shipyard, but parts like gussets or flanges and tools like H-blocks or wedges are. With the Mach 1, you equip your team with the ability to create the parts they need as soon as they need them without having to wait on an internal order.

FAQ

Common questions.

Can the Mach 1 really cut vertically or overhead?

Yes. The integrated electromagnetic base is designed to hold the machine to structural steel in any orientation. Adding additional Talon bases provides redundant mounting ability to secure the Mach 1 flat, vertically, and overhead.

Does the Mach 1 connect to our network?

No. The standard Mach 1 system uses a local peer-to-peer wireless connection that does not require internet or access to your systems. You can also order the Mach 1 with tethered control only to skip any wireless concerns entirely, as well as specifying your own tablet requirements if necessary. Ask your CN-Seamless rep for more information on complying with IT and security requirements for your facility.

Plasma or oxy-fuel for hull plate?

Both, from the same machine. Plasma is the speed play on lighter plate; oxy-fuel (acetylene, propane, or natural gas) handles thick sections. Many yards spec the combo kit and switch attachments per job.

Which plasma cutters does it work with?

The Mach 1 pairs with common industrial units, including the Hypertherm Powermax and Lincoln FlexCut series. Talk to your CN-Seamless rep if you’re interested in configuring for the Hypertherm MaxPro200 series.
